Tania Massault is the representative for the Alto, one of the publishing houses that participated in the experience exchange workshop between the Quebec group of publishers and the FGSR and IPDA teams. This workshop is part of the cycle of sessions that take place in Renodo for the generation of ideas and cooperation in the field of books and reading.
Alto has been working for 15 years in the field of fiction books, with a very selective standars, which are summed up in their motto “we prefer to publish less but publish better” and this is reflected in a dozen titles per year of Québec literature and some translations.
After a few days of work in Spain, what has drawn the most attention to Massault is the degree of openness of the Spanish publishers to the translation and publishing of foreign novels, as well as the proliferation of new small publishing houses.
From the perspective of the promotion of reading Tania Massault points out in this video how impressed she feels about the new concept that the activities she has been able to know in Casa del Lector imply “I came looking for books, because I naively linked them with the denomination of the House of Readers” and she has been fascinated by such a risky proposal and adds “I think we need this kind of things there and I can’t wait to speak with the cultural civil servants in Quebec who develop the Houses of Literature -something close to this experience- in order to exchange concepts and ideas».
