During the Readmagine conference in 2018 there was one of the dialogues devoted to the bookstores, which was moderated by José Manuel Anta (managing director of Fande and IPDA).
The two participants where Grazia Gotti (Italy) and Jose Pinho (Portugal) both of them experimented booksellers and founders of prestigious independent bookstores.
During this panel were discussed issues about the present situation of the birck and mortar bookstores, the impact of digital, the new models for bookshops, the uncertainties and the means of action.
Grazia Gotti is a prestigious mentor of booksellers in Italy, the founder of a very famous bookstore and also a teacher. In 1983 Grazia Gotti co-founded the Cooperativa Culturale Giannino Stoppani and the indipendent children’s book store. She Collaborates with several publishers, scouting and curating bookseries. Since 2003 she is a member of Accademia Drosselmeier, a Study Centre attended by teachers, educators, librarians, book sellers.
José Pinho is the founder and director of the prestigious and famous bookshop Ler Devagar, considered one of the 10 most beautiful bookstores in the world, and also the activist of different projects related to readership as the festival in Óbidos, where there is also another Ler Devagar bookshop.
