Chris Beer is a Senior Trends Analyst at GlobalWebIndex, a market research company running the world’s largest ongoing survey on the digital consumer. He analyses this rich dataset, alongside other material, to uncover the latest trends and insights in media and beyond. In a past life, he worked as a production manager for an audiobook production company.
One of the main focus of Beer’s presentation within the READMAGINE 2019 event was the issue of Smart speakers (a stereo/butler hybrid) with a 33% of people using them during the past six months, mostly for music (79%), but also for listening audiobooks (24%).
According with GBI data, 56% of users asked for text content based on specific media, 20% on genre and 13% on a specific author.
Among the large amount of interesting information offered by Beer, also there were data on the streaming or subscription trends and how the market is showing the first effects of fatigue and other challenges.
